We are a Wellington based furniture company working out of an expansive retail showroom in Kaiwhararwhara. A family owned business, Backhouse was started in Wellington in 1948 by Joe Backhouse, then a young Cabinet maker following his dream to make beautifully crafted furniture for discerning customers.
Over the last 60 years the Backhouse name has been synonymous with quality and it's a tradition the team in this unique business follow with a passion. Backhouse has a strong reputation for innovative and internationally acclaimed imported design, but also supports and celebrates New Zealand manufacturers producing world class designs.
Co-owners Gary and Michelle Backhouse, along with their hard working and experienced staff, are committed to finding furniture solutions for their ever expanding customer base. Whether it is working alongside Architects, Designers and Specifiers on a commercial interior fitout or sitting down with an individual customer to design and build a custom piece of furniture,
