We are a Wellington based furniture company working out of an expansive retail showroom in Kaiwharawhara. A family owned business started in 1948, spanning three generations,  Backhouse continues to provide outstanding furniture solutions to discerning New Zealand clients.

Over the last 60 years the Backhouse name has been synonymous with quality and it's a tradition the team in this unique business follow with a passion. Backhouse has a strong reputation for innovative and internationally acclaimed imported design, but also supports and celebrates New Zealand manufacturers producing world class designs.

Co-owners Gary and Michelle Backhouse, along with their hard working and experienced staff, are committed to finding furniture solutions for their ever expanding customer base. Whether it is working alongside Architects, Designers and Specifiers on a commercial interior fitout or sitting down with an individual customer to design and build a custom piece of furniture.

While based in Wellington, our focus is very much Nationwide and we have established partnerships with furniture companies in all major cities.
